Darius Riley is a Bay Area-based photographer, filmmaker, and educator dedicated to capturing the stories of Black and Brown communities through visual storytelling. As the founder of HOUR VOYSES, Darius has collaborated with organizations such as UC Berkeley School of Law, The Presidio Trust, DoorDash, Meta, and Google, using his lens to document narratives that inspire change and celebrate culture.
With a deep passion for storytelling, Darius’ work spans commercial photography, documentary filmmaking, and community-driven projects. He is currently co-producing a documentary with acclaimed architecture photographer Jason O’Rear, exploring the intersection of design and visual storytelling. His work has also been published in KQED, where he highlighted the hidden beauty of East Palo Alto as part of the Silicon Valley Unseen series.
Beyond his creative pursuits, Darius is committed to mentorship and education. As a coach and faculty member at Eastside College Preparatory School, he empowers the next generation of storytellers, guiding students in media, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. His vision for the future of HOUR VOYSES includes developing a nonprofit branch dedicated to equipping young artists with the tools to document their own communities, blending storytelling with social impact.
Darius’ mission is to use his craft to uplift, document, and preserve the stories that matter—ensuring that underrepresented voices are seen, heard, and remembered.
